Burn my tears

Cry,
Let tears wash the pain away.
Pray for tears, they do not come.
Nothing to ease pain's burden.
No gentle tears will soften eyes' memory
Of the horrors I have seen.
Should I cry for a burning child?
Could tears make its mother live again,
To see this prolonged agony?
A man has fallen,
Will I cry long live that man?
Should I cry for a dying people,
Why should my pain be less than theirs?
Do not let the tears wash my burning eyes.
Make me remember.
To cry would give me ease.
