Deep Green Circles

Green waters swiftly stilling,
Deep oceans quickly claiming
Lands time trodden old.
Swirling, drifting, drowning
All memories of things past.
Of man and his achievements.
Destruction was his gift
To this green world that bore him
And taught him from the dawn.
Until now it softly buries him
And the dust he left behind.
It washes and it cleans
All the poisons from the air.
Drowning all the evidence
That man was ever here.
And the cradle is prepared
For man is born again.
To crawl and toddle and walk,
To learn all things anew.
He grows up straight and tall,
And walks with too much pride.
Then some hidden memory,
Comes slime covered creeping from the past,
And attacks that too much pride.
Green waters swiftly stilling,
Deep oceans quickly claiming
Lands time trodden old,
Drowning all the evidence
That man was ever here.

We might learn from history, but chances are we'll make the same mistakes again - given the chance
